There's got to be some Yuck...

I was excitedly counting down the days until I'm out of here when, just like a ticking bomb, things blew up!

Yesterday the School of Religion decided it was time to bring the budget under control and they laid off the Jackie our school secretary. Jackie has been at the school for 18 years. She is one year from full retirement and she has helped every single student in the entire school. No one has touched more lives in this school than her. To say the least, the entire student body is up in arms! There is an emergency student meeting today - and we will be able to accomplish... nothing...

Yesterday I got an e-mail that my elderly friend Janis from church has fallen and broken her hip. Last year she was in the hospital for a number of weeks. It was extremely serious and everyone was thoroughly surprised that she actually survived. I need to visit her. Last time I took "the World of Pooh" and read to her. I want to do that again but...

Yesterday my car also decided to crap on it's electrical system! First the top wouldn't go up OR down. It was just stuck and flashing the warning light. When I finally convinced it to go back up the left blinker decided to freak out and blink at the rate of a hummingbird's wing. After that... the electrical system chose not to talk the key pad. I realize that having to actually insert the key to unlock the car is a small inconvenience but I have to sell the car in less than a month and this isn't a good sign. I need top dollar to get out of debt before heading to school in the fall!

TODAY is dealing with the YUCK fallout from yesterday.

11am Student Council meeting with the student body about Jackie, etc. Which is, I'm sure, going to get ugly or at least upsetting. Especially since it is Ceasar Chaves day (a CA state holiday). The school is closed so we won't be getting any straight answers. I want to try to visit Janis but don't want to take any bad vibes. I probably should check with her daughter first to be sure she can have visitors. 2:30pm I have to set up for a SPARC conf - just food and sodas and the race to the VW dealership for my 3pm appointment for the car.

Saturday's schedule is laundry and nothing else. That just sounds so relaxing at the moment.
