I sold my beloved VW bug before I left California. Here I'm grateful to have my Dad's truck to drive. It is a full size GMC Sierra crew cab. To give you a bit of perspective even I have to hitch myself up to get into the driver's seat. I swear it's got the turning radius of a small country. Dad is letting my use it except for times when he has to haul the boat in or out of the water.
While it has been an experience relearning how to drive a truck large enough to park my last car in, there are certain advantages - #1 The Intimidation Factor: All I have to do is scowl at the slow driving gawking tourists and they pull over and let me pass. #2 The Fantasy Factor: Being up so high I can easily day dream about driving over (ala Monster Truck style) the 1977 Lincoln Town car with mushy shocks and Florida plates that seems to drive in front of me at 25 miles per hour at least once a week. #3 The Volume Factor: With all that space in the cab you can't drive with a quiet stereo and I've finally found a good old fashioned rock and roll station that jacks up the cool factor.
Life is good in a BIG TRUCK but my heart still yearns to put the top down.
