Christmas with a Cough... and a sputter

I have had a nasty head cold since the Monday before Christmas - almost two full weeks! And the medication hasn't really been working one way or the other. I haven't cracked the books because my fuzzy brain just couldn't seem to move on from a single paragraph let alone retain any info in the process!

I can't say it was a crappy Christmas because it was nice and quiet. I have enjoyed the down time, sort of. I've spent sometime knitting myself a hat with pink, purple, yellow and green stripes - yes, I look a bit like an Easter Egg. I'm still coughing up phlem and trying to unplug my nose which is becoming very tiresome.

This morning I was definitely in a blue funk. I didn't wake up from my cold 'coma' until almost 10am and then just couldn't or didn't get in gear until nearly noon. In the process, thoughts of new years resolutions mingled with cabin fever did nothing to lift my mood. I finally pulled myself together enough to go for a walk - in a town with only four stores that were open. I ended up taking myself out for lunch - delicious spicy cauliflower soup and a sandwich. When I got home (around 3pm) I was able to skype with Mom & Dad - which always lifts my spirits

Since then I have found US television on line and I feel as if I've had a true vacation!!! Found the Rose Parade broadcast live from sunny and warm Pasadena! AND to top off an already wonderful day I'm watching Florida State Gators and Penn State Nittany Lions battle it out in the 2011 Outback Bowl in Florida! Thank you God for loving me and sending me a bit of home when I desperately needed it! (it's halftime at the moment so I'm typing and listening to the ESPN halftime report). OOOppps, 2nd half is underway. Time to get a hamburger on the George Forman grill and revel in all things American!
