Eureka!

Let's see if I can make any kind of sense on this post:

I have been writing (0ff and on) my paper for SBL for approximately 6 months. Wednesday, as I was going over it for what I hoped would be the last time, I noticed something EXTREMELY significant which I had not seen before.

In my paper I compare, for lack of a better term, story beats in Gen 22, Num 22 and Judges 19 in order to prove that the Levite in Judges thinks he is a prophet like Abraham and Balaam. In Gen and Num the story basically goes 'He lifted up his eyes and saw' + a divine element (for Abraham it is Mt. Moriah where he is supposed to sacrifice Isaac, for Balaam he finally sees the messenger of YHWH who has been blocking his path).

In Judges the Levite never uses his eyes or sees but his is the object of eyes and seeing when the Old Man of Gibeah spots him sitting in the street. Right after that, and this was the EUREKA, the Levites says, for the first time, that he is on his way to 'the house of the Lord.' It's the only time he says it and it is the only mention of the divine in his story!!!

How did I miss that??!!! I have no idea but now I know I'm done because there are no dangling story beats out there! San Francisco here I come - batten down the hatches!!!
