Reading Week

Reading Week is, basically, the UK version of Thanksgiving Break. There are not classes or seminars. Most of the students get out of town and for a few days you can actually get in and out of Tescos in a reasonable amount of time.

I've been using my free time to go over my SBL paper with a fine tooth comb. I've fixed the footnotes, put together a general answer sheet for questions I might get after giving the paper and I've sketched out a hand out that just needs some final tweaking.

Yesterday (Tuesday) afternoon I offered some of my Hebrew students an extra tutorial session focusing on pronunciation and vocabulary. It was very casual and actually a lot of fun! There were only five students so each took a turn saying a word and then translating. They did a very good job. It was only going to be an hour but most stayed for two hours and might have stayed later except the porter came around to close up the building. Hopefully they now have a bit more confidence and will 'enjoy' the translation assignment I gave them as a take home quiz for the week.
