A view from down to Lynmouth from the top of the hill.

Lynton is at the top of the hill - Lynmouth at the bottom. There are a couple of options for getting down between the two. 1. Trip and Fall, 2. Let the river wash you down the hill, 3. Drive if you don't get car sick on all the twists and turns, or 4. Take the 100 year old funicular rail road.

Oscar, his sister and Father decided to be brave and stand on the very front of the cable car!

I took a picture and stepped back!
A Typical Devon Seaside Town
except for...

The hillside rail road on the right side.

The castle on the harbor breakwater.

Washed away in 1952 during a flash flood, it was re-built in 1954 because, apparently, you can't have a breakwater without some kind of castle in Devon.

Then again a typical pub scene - and not just in Devon but all over the UK. Get a pint and have a chat - describes a perfect afternoon for most people.

Not sure if this is typical or not of a seaside town - guess it depends on your latitude and the pull of the tides.
I bumped the mouse and it enlarged the picture of the Rising Sun Hotel - the white building with you talking about pubs in the caption ... I love how it says right there on the sign that the building is from the 14th century. And we think we have old buildings from the 1700s in Philly. Heh. We really need to get over to Europe one of these days.
