Another UK peculiarity

Eurovision 2012 - how to explain Eurovision....  Take the perpetually bad reality shows 'America's Got Talent' or 'American Idol' add a whole lot of flashing lights, gaudy costumes, and 26 countries and you might come close to imagining Eurovision.

It is a yearly contest where countries send one singer or group (no more than 7 members on stage at any one time) to represent their homeland in song.  Each country gets about 2 1/2 minutes to strut/sing/gyrate/emote their particular melody and gain audience support (which includes viewers at home who call in and vote).  The object is not always to win - the country that wins has to host next year's competition so some countries send really bad entries in order to loose and save the money.

Anyway - Here are some pictures of the group that gathered at Kathleen Burt's house to celebrate, laugh, cry, criticize and be stupefied:

Kathleen never throws a party without a little bit of decoration and this was it!

l to r: Dung (Mary's Friend), Fiona, Elijah & Laura, Simon (way in the back), Christoph, Kathleen, James & Mary (holding Sebastian).
l to r:  Ella and Katie on the sofa
Had to add the following picture from Katie.  If you look closely I am in the background (tucked in behind Kathleen and Christoph) totally stupefied by the Russian Grannies.

To look up the Russian Grannies follow this link:  http://youtu.be/BgUstrmJzyc
THEY CAME IN SECOND!!!!
