Final push for the Thesis

I met with Tammi, my adviser, yesterday to get feedback on my Thesis. I was a bit panicked but it went well - I only have to re-write the entire thing! Actually, it's all there I just have to beef up my thesis and then rearrange all my work to support it.

I was trying to prove the Levite pilegesh is a judge in Israel. Tammi wants me to point to a prophetic stance instead. I've got a great quote at the end of one of my chapters she says is my thesis statement. So I'm pulling that forward, doing some more research and then rearranging the other chapters to all support the opening gambit.

Here's the part that's being moved to the head of the class:

Richard Elliott Freedman states that the Book of Judges defines prophets as, “men or women who were regarded as having been called by the deity to perform a special task with regard to the people. The task might be to encourage or to criticize. It might be in the realm of politics, ethics, or ritual.” Using this definition, the pilegesh could be considered a prophet whose treatment and death criticizes Israel in almost every realm and brings a special opportunity for redemption to the entire nation. As the last line of the book testifies the nation has slid even farther into apostasy for, not only is there no king in Israel, but ‘every man did that which was right in his own eyes.’

The plan for today and the weekend is to read through all that I've already written each day. Do a little research on prophets and prophetic notions in the afternoon each day. Monday I'm back in the library from 9am to 9pm. Hopefully all the reading will give me the ability to just write, re-write and rearrange with ease. Keep you finger's crossed!
