I sold Fancy today. I turned the keys over to John at Iron Works Gym after my morning workout and walked home - and cried. Silly, I know, but I feel like I should have gone out and hugged her before leaving but she was parked right in front of the gym and it was bad enough that I was walking away with a few tears in my eyes. John is a great guy and knows his cars so I am comforted in knowing that she's going to a good home and will be well taken care of.
Fancy and I had good times together. She got me across country in one piece (30+ mpg while driving the freeways and blasting the a/c across the blistering plain states) before she had any troubles (just needed a 3000 mile check up on one trip and a new battery about a week later). She and I made friends with the VW dealer here in CA before we really met anyone else. She's been great as a 'top down' ride and has been the responsible for some of the best 'looks' I've gotten while out here. And her stereo always seems to find the right songs for how I was feeling when driving. After 10 years with my chevy blazer 4 door I could have sworn I was a truck chick but now I'm thinking that I'll have to unleash my inner convertible babe again soon.
My other cars I've basically driven into the ground before giving them up so this was a new experience. If it's this depressing and difficult with a car imagine me with a pet! Jeesh I'm am such a sentimental slob!
