Wicked Good Storm

We had, as they say in New England, a WICKED GOOD storm last night. The day started out bright and sunny but by noon it clouded over and by two or so the rain started. Last night lots of wind and rain and creepy house noises but this morning just mist and a few hearty birds chirping in the trees.

I did notice the grass this morning - it's grown pretty high in the week and a half that Mom & Dad have been gone. If you know me you know that I 'strongly dislike' mowing the lawn and I have considered just leaving it as is but for the squirrels and bunnies.

Yesterday I saw a squirrel trying to make his way across the lawn. His leaps and bounds were more vertical than horizontal. After a while I got the feeling he was only coming up for air. He'd pop up, survey his surroundings and then decide if it was worth moving forward. I haven't seen him at all today so I'm wondering if he just gave up and is lost somewhere in the undergrowth. The bunny is a bit bigger than the squirrel. She was enjoying a breakfast of grass this morning. It looked as if she had sauntered up to the bar and was just grazing on the grass tops like they were overflowing baskets of peanuts. She'll be ok getting home so long as here ears can be used as radar dishes and point the way.

UPDATE: checked the shed out back to see if I could get the lawn mower out and rescue my little woodland creature friends. Darn, it's locked... ;-)
