I made it!

The snow held off, the bus didn't have to take a surreptitious route due road closures and I didn't get lost trying to find Liz in Edinburgh!

We met up for lunch at a delicious place called Chocolate Soup. It was as yummy as the name of the restaurant! Then we walked up and down the Royal Mile in search of kilts and Christmas gifts for Liz's family. She is leaving for home Sunday morning and wanted to be sure she had everyone covered with some celtic gifts.

OH - it's started to snow here in St. Andrews. It is coming straight down like white rain. Interesting thing about snow here in fife - it seems to come down, most often, not in snowflake form but looking a lot like those tiny white Styrofoam packing balls. anyway...

We had a great time shopping then wandered down off castle hill to Grassmarket then around the bottom of the castle cliffs. By that time the sun had set, Christmas lights were illuminated and the castle was lit up. Oh, for want of a tripod! It was a beautiful sight. The Edinburgh street faire was on so there was as Ferris wheel and other rides decorating the Scott monument. and lots of great fun food booths. We snacked on some donut like things drenched in hot Nutella - yummmmmmmmm. Then wandered through all the great booths.

Eventually, it was time to head back home so Liz and I parted at Waverly Station since we were going in opposite directions. I have to say, Liz's six month adventure (summer in Spain and a semester here in Scotland) has been wonderful for her - not that she wasn't amazing to start with but she's just got such great confidence and drive. I expect we will hear great things from her in the future! Go get 'em tiger!!!
