Today's Forecast...

Opening up emails this morning I received the following from the University's Housing Department:

SEVERE WEATHER WARNING : 8th December
With the weather forecast for extremely high winds today could I remind you all to exercise caution when opening doors and windows. Please ensure that all windows, doors etc. are secure.

Turns out that gale force+ winds (100mph predicted) are predicted which is having an interesting affect on the country. They are cancelling flights and closing schools and bridges. There have been an unusual number of car accidents and then there is the rain. Horizontal and nearly schizophrenic when it comes down, the torrent is then blown out to sea in a matter of moments and the sun comes out as if nothing has happened.

All this has reminded me, for some reason, of the AMC summer volleyball game on the top of Mt. Washington - in the fog and wind when the ball was served over the net a wee bit to high and did an abrupt 180 and sailed off into the oblivion of Tuckerman's Ravine! Hold onto your hats - It's going to be an interesting day for sure.
