Monday on Cyprus

You know that song "The Sun Will Come Out Tomorrow"? Well, that's what I kept telling Kathleen and sure enough it did. Still a good idea to wear a jacket but nothing like yesterday. We got a later than hoped for start but this is the definition of a non-Harvey Tracy vacation so it's OK.

We left around noon and headed into Paelo Paphos - in other words the older section of town. We eventually found a parking place and the Byzantium museum (filled with icons and other religious items) and the Ethnological Museum which was odd in that it was in someone's house and they were still living there. We also decided to visit the municiple market which used to be the big bazaar in the middle of town. Now it's filled with tacky tourist shops that sell stuff mostly made in China - but hey, it was fun and we found our way to a great little cafe with outdoor seating that overlooked the lower part of Paphos and the sea. We sat and soaked up the sun, and finally ate a very late lunch of fresh homemade hummus and pita sandwiches. Delish!

Had to come home for a nap. Now we are in the lobby just enjoying some odd 'Roman' murals on the wall and listening to the Russian tourists talk about where they are all going out to dinner. At least that's what I think they are saying. They could be plotting to drive the Turkish out of the north part of the Island for all I know! Night night.
