Dear Colleagues
I am delighted to announce that the Patron of our 600th Anniversary Campaign, Prince William, accompanied by Miss Catherine Middleton will be visiting the University to launch the Anniversary celebrations on Friday 25 February 2011.
The launch itself will take place in St Salvator’s Quad in front of students, staff and friends of the University, at a time to be confirmed. This will be an historic occasion and one in which we would like as many as possible of our students and staff to participate.
We anticipate that many of you would like to be present, however security considerations mean that we are limited in the numbers we can accommodate in the Quad. To register your interest in attending, please email (I removed the link for your protection!) from your University email account. Security considerations also require us to ask that you give your full name, date of birth and home address when registering.
Students attending will be excused classes for the duration of the visit.
The deadline for your application to be received is midnight on Wednesday 16 February. In the likely event that the number of applications exceeds the space available then tickets will be allocated by ballot. Successful applicants will be notified by email to their University email account.
This is an enormously exciting time for the University and it is both inevitable and welcome that we can expect to be the focus of significant attention from local, national and international media. Should any of you have any questions or concerns about media interest or enquiries, please contact our Director of Communications, Niall Scott.
With warm regards
Louise Richardson
Principal and Vice-Chancellor
- I sent a registration e-mail by 12:04pm! Now all I have to do is wait to see if I get a ticket and then decide what to wear!!!

I'll keep my fingers crossed for you. It's not every day one has an audience with the future King and Queen, of, well, anywhere.
