Got a manilla envelope in the mail today - postage was $2.92 - from the states. Inside was a note from Mom & Dad. It said, "Hi Honey, When I said there's not much here to warrant the postage, Dad said: 'Send it - she needs mail'!! It's not much but sent with, you know, lots of love and hugs from your crazy parents."
So, what was in the envelope? A misaddressed Christmas card from an old high school friend (who now looks just like I remember her mother looking). A clipping from the Brown University (parents alma mater) alumni magazine about a woman who is a Torah scribe. A laminated bookmark from Big Bend National Park. And a brown napkin in a plastic sandwich baggy with a note which read "From the Mochingbird Cafe, Bay St. Louis Mississippi. 'Were Very Good.'" I unwrapped the note and the napkin to find two empty muffin papers. There weren't even enough crumbs left to get a whiff of what kind of muffins they might have been... MockingBird - INDEED!!!
Just goes to show how much my ever financially aware father loves me that he would spend $2.92 to send me two used cupcake paper liners! XXXXOOOOO right back at you two crazy kids!
