Saturday morning and the office to move back in to Gannochy doesn't open until 10am!
Soooooooo - at 7am on FRIDAY I packed up the car (taking everything out of my office before I had the chance to disturb anyone) and parked it at Kathleen's flat where she has off street parking. Turns out I am amazing at car packing tetras - which I attribute to watching my father pack up his family of three girls for multiple family vacations.
Once the car was parked at Kathleen's I tried to take my mind off the intervening 24 hours. It didn't work. I straightened up Kathleen's flat (including reorganizing her closet) - YES, I had permission to Bethanize her place, so it was good for her and 'relaxing' for me. I did actually get back to the office and got some work done but I think I was more impressed with the fact that I could get my legs under my desk than anything I actually read or wrote.
Saturday I was up before my alarm went off. I pulled on a pair of jeans, jumped in the car and drove it a block down the street and parked it behind Gannochy so I'd have the shortest distance to unpack from the trunk to the door. Then I calmly walked home, took a shower, and did one last sweep of Kathleen's flat to be sure I hadn't left any dirty dishes.
At 8:45am I walked over to Argos - our local Target - to pick up one or two things right when they opened at 9am and before all the incoming students and their parents descended to pick up the toothbrushes and bed linens they forgot at home. Turns out the two things I wanted were out of stock so I walked back toward Gannochy with a detour into Fischer & Donaldson's bakery. I was smart! I picked up two of their delectable Coffee Towers and two of the equally decadent Chocolate Towers. Holding the box like I was carrying the crown jewels I arrived at the back door of Gannochy....
Mags and her helper were rushing around like chickens with their heads cut trying to get the last of the building cleaned up before the on slot that would be coming in 45 mins. I presented the crown jewels and was gifted with a golden key! IT PAYS TO BE NICE TO THE CLEANING STAFF!
I had my car unpacked and all my stuff up three flights of stairs just as the office opened it's doors to about 40 freshmen, another 15 or so postgrad and their entourages. Instead of wait in line I helped Mags with cleaning some windows for another 1/2 hour. Eventually I sauntered over to the office and officially received my key - but by that time I already had my bed made.
I am in in in and IN. I am now unpacked, sorted and put away! I am showered and cleaned up. I am now taking a nap... zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
