There are always trade offs...

I could not have scripted a more beautiful day here in St Andrews!

The sun was out; occasional clouds rolled by accompanied by gentle breezes. The temperature actually allowed for t-shirts but not quite shorts. It was still best to have a sweatshirt around your waist for the momentary cloud cover but there was a moment when I wondered if sunscreen was going to be required.

I got to the grocery store and completed my errands in town long before the crush of students rolled out of bed. Because I had gotten to the store I was able to finally christen my slow cooker - I made a pot roast - yes, I did!

The trade offs: 1. no hot water in the shower until almost noon so all the errands were run with my hair under a baseball cap and with the hope I wouldn't run into anyone I knew. 2. Washer/Dryers are still not installed here in Gannochy so I had to mount a stealth operation to use the facilities in another dorm (Salvator's Hall - where Prince William lived his first year at Uni). Luckily I know the porter so I had an inside man. 3. While I did actually cook a pot roast with carrots and potatoes and everything was great... for some reason the meat was dry. I have no idea how that happened since it was soaking in juices. Oh well. I divided the left overs and now have all kinds of food for the week ahead and I froze the juice for some soup in the future.

Moral of the story - There are trade offs but always look for the silver lining on a sunny day in Scotland!
