Studying: Day One

Well, at least I dressed right finally! I chose a long sleeved t-shirt and my new LL Bean wool sweater. Added my anorak as a jacket and headed out. Through clouds, little bit of wind and some rain I did just fine and was comfortable, not too hot, not too cold all day. One outfit! This is a mile stone!!!

As for studying... It took two trips to get the rest of my books over to the Roundel (pronounced more like the man's name Randal). I set up shop and did an hour of translating Hebrew. Then came home for lunch and a short nap. Went back at 1pm to begin reading a dissertation on birth narratives in the bible then switched to collecting data on my own project. (I really need to learn excel better). I took a break and went over to see Kristin with a list of books I couldn't find in the library - THANK YOU CURT for the title of a commentary (in English) of a book (only in German) that I have to read!!!! Once back at the office I picked up the dissertation again and read another chapter.

I put things aside at 5pm and headed home but without much food in the fridge I had to go shopping... The store in the center of town is as expensive as if you were shopping in the center of London. Tesco's is always full of students and usually limited in its stock. I decided to walk to Morrison's on the edge of town and really get my money's worth but it has cost me my feet! It is about a mile and a half each way and with a full pack on the way back it was a haul. Good news is, I think I burned more calories going to and from the store than are contained in everything I brought back! Could barely fit it all in my one little shelf in the kitchen but I'll make do. Dinner tonight was whatever couldn't fit - a tortilla with mustard and spinach, an orange and a banana. Tomorrow I'll be a bit less creative!

  1. What must it be like to go to graduate school and actually work on your intended project? I can barely even remember what mine is anymore...
