Thanksgiving didn't quite go as planned. I was in the office as usual then went to a seminar at 2:30pm with plans to attend a big Thanksgiving dinner with other US office mates but halfway through the seminar I wondered if I'd have the energy to get back to the office and home. I came down with something because I really didn't move (alternated sleeping and reading) from off my sofa for the following 24 hours.
However, after the seminar, when I got home I found a package in my mail box - from Wendy. LOVELY WENDY! Inside was a bag of chocolate/peanut butter cups in the shape of a maple leaves, delicious apple herb tea, some maple syrup candy and a Yankee magazine ;-)
When I opened the magazine to read it a colorful leaf fell out! and then another and another and another. She had collected a New England Fall bouquet and sent it along with the rest of home.
I have the leaves - well most of them anyway - pinned up on my bulletin board although I keep finding little ones on the floor like Christmas tree pine needles in April scattered around the room.
So, while I didn't make the traditional Thanksgiving meal I had a very lovely thanksgiving day curled up under a wool blanket enjoying the smells and tastes of home.
